EV LAB Unveils the Region’s First Electric Mobility Experience Centre in Dubai, Leading the Charge Toward Sustainable Transportation

Dubai, UAE – October 28, 2024: In a landmark development for sustainable mobility, EV LAB has launched the region’s first Electric Mobility Experience Centre at One Central, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Following a soft launch in June, this state-of-the-art hub aims to revolutionize how consumers interact with electric vehicles (EVs) and eco-friendly mobility solutions. Designed to support the UAE’s ambitious Net Zero 2050 goals, the centre is a vital step forward in educating the public and fostering a culture of sustainable transportation.

The launch event saw the participation of esteemed guests, including HE Dr. Alanoud Alhaj, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Green Development and Climate Change Sector at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. In her remarks, Dr. Alhaj emphasized the UAE’s commitment to a sustainable future, noting that electric mobility is essential for achieving the country’s vision of a greener economy. The UAE has already set its sights on having electric and hybrid vehicles account for 50% of all vehicles by 2050, complemented by significant expansions in renewable energy capacity.

Attendees explored a curated display of cutting-edge electric vehicles, including the recently launched Lotus Emeya, an all-electric Hyper-GT, and the Lotus Eletre Hyper-SUV. The showcase highlighted advancements not only in automotive technology but also in electric yachts, underscoring the broad scope of electric mobility innovation.

Kevin Chalhoub, Founder and CEO of EV LAB, outlined the centre’s mission to inspire change and reduce CO₂ emissions through education and innovation. He shared his vision of EV LAB as a catalyst for sustainable transportation in the UAE, where road transportation alone still accounts for 40 million tons of emissions annually. By 2030, global electric mobility could potentially reduce carbon emissions by up to 1.5 gigatonnes. “This centre isn’t just about showcasing products,” Chalhoub explained, “it’s about motivating individuals and businesses alike to be part of a sustainable movement.”

The Experience Centre operates on a unique Retail as a Service (RaaS) model, allowing multiple brands to participate in a collaborative “shop-in-shop” setup. Visitors can explore EV models from top brands like Lotus, Polestar, Lucid, Audi, and Porsche, as well as zero-emission electric yachts from Silent Yachts and Marian Boats. Beyond displays, the centre provides test drives, personalized consultations with expert “e-Visors,” and tailored solutions for buying, renting, or leasing electric vehicles.

Karl Hamer, Chairman and CEO of Adamas Motor Group (Lotus Cars UAE), also expressed excitement over the partnership with EV LAB, especially with the introduction of Lotus’s all-electric Emeya Hyper-GT in the UAE market.

The EV LAB centre, located in the LEED Gold-certified Offices 1 building, is itself a model of sustainability, featuring energy-efficient LED lighting, locally sourced sustainable materials, and recycled plastic furnishings. With an experience designed for all ages, the centre offers an interactive space for families, showcasing the full ecosystem of sustainable transportation.
